Leadership
Introduction
Leadership is a quality only a few are born with but it is a skill which can be developed with practice. Those who can develop appropriate leadership skills witness not only personal achievement but also individual and team success. This applies to many contexts and situations. This workshop will help delegates explore key approaches and identify the most suitable leadership approach, given organisational history and current working practices.
Format
Training will be delivered in a relaxed, friendly environment conducive to the learning process. Workshops will be highly participative, with formal trainer input being complemented by exercises, discussions and regular feedback sessions, and delegates will be actively encouraged to join in.
Delegates will log the main learning points as the course progresses and will develop appropriate workplace action plans..
Aims
This one-day workshop aims to allow the delegates to recognise the importance of effective leadership and develop and apply appropriate leadership skills in varying circumstances .
Objectives
At the end of this one day workshop programme delegates will return to the workplace better able to: -
• Understand the difference between management and leadership
• Understand the importance of effective leadership and the most common approaches
• Apply the right approach in varying situations and contexts
• Effectively carry out the key functions of a leader
• Recognise their own leadership style from standard models and apply the "Best Fit Approach"
• Employ assertiveness techniques to compliment chosen leadership styles
