Delegation Skills

Introduction
As a supervisor or manager there will often be times when you need to delegate to others the authority to act on your behalf and to perform tasks you have set them. Carrying out effective delegation is important as it can release you from day to day time consuming tasks and give greater responsibility to individuals within your team, allowing them to develop in a rewarding and positive way.

With the above in mind, this one-day workshop is intended to help you understand why delegation is important both to you and to those who work for you.

Format
Training will be delivered in a relaxed, friendly environment conducive to the learning process. Workshops will be highly participative. Formal trainer input will be complemented by exercises, discussions and regular feedback sessions and delegates will be actively encouraged to take part.

Delegates will need to log the main learning points as the course progresses. This will enable them to ensure that objectives are being met and will help in the formulation of workplace action plans.

Aims
This workshop aims to allow delegates to explore the pitfalls of delegating and learn how delegating may be carried out in a positive and developmental way and to control work teams more effectivly.

Objectives
At the end of the workshop programme delegates will return to the workshop better able to:

• Approach and explore the key principles of delegating work
• Consider what can be, or ought to be delegated
• Identify whom one can delegate to
• Delegate effectively and in a positive manner to the benefit of all concerned
