Data Protection

Introduction
In an age of ever changing legislation, increased levels of litigation, evolving human rights and increased information handling resulting from the digital era, it has never been so important for organisations to embrace the key elements of the Data Protection Act. Published in 1998 it has become the driving force behind the correct and comprehensive use of information.

Format 
Training will be are delivered in a relaxed, friendly and supportive manner which focuses upon the needs of the learner. We firmly believe that learning is a social activity and participation and encouragement is key to effective learning. To maximise outcomes for all concerned, delegates will be encouraged to work on real life workplace examples and scenarios. In doing so, they will develop an understanding of organisational procedures and guidelines.

Aims
This workshop aims to allow delegates the opportunity to explore the key principles of the 1998 Data Protection Act and associated operational policies, procedures and guidelines.

Objectives
At the end of the workshop programmes delegates will return to the workplace better able to:

• Understand the key drivers for the sound application of the Data Protection Act in the workplace
• Understand, access and apply data protection policies, procedures and guidelines within the workplace
• Apply Data Protection Act principles to a wide range of circumstances, contexts and scenarios
• Guide others on the Act's implementation and conform to legislative requirements
• Minimise potential litigation and/or misuse of information/data
• Apply and develop a personal workplace action plan of compliance
